Welcome to our Turkish language course. The course has been designed to help you learn Turkish at Al Level (see the next pages and the back cover for definition) in accordance with the language proficiency level introduced by the Council of Europe. Therefore the main objectives of the course are to help you learn Turkish:
– as a complete beginner,
– to live in Turkey for a few months,
– to study at a Turkish University,
– to learn some basic words and phrases for survival.
This introduction is in English, but the course materials are all in Turkish. We know your first language may not be English, so you will find your own way to support your learning of Turkish. You might use pictures and symbols, your first language, Englishsome other method. We have met many learners of Turkish over the years and we know people learn in different ways and at different speeds. We have done our best to make the materials flexible to meet your individual needs and interests.
We know you are a mature and successful student of your own subject and of other languages. We have worked hard to produce materials that fit your intelligence and language level. We shall give you plenty of opportunities to practise using the language you have learned. You are coming to Turkey either to spend some time as a touristto study at a Turkish University as part of the Erasmus exchange programme. Therefore, in addition to the every day language necessary for survival, you also need to know about studying here, what the teachers and students will be like and so on. During our course you will learn about daily life in Turkey as well as about the Turkish university environment.
